Corporate Identity
is a form of social communication between sender (company) and receivers (clients, decision-makers, sub-contractors, etc.). Corporate identity is, amongst others, logotype models, logos, and company's colour scheme, coexistence of logo and other graphic elements, etc. Symbols/shapes are important factors of corporate identity, but even more important is reception, its entirety received by target group. Properly designed and skillfully used corporate identity system may becomes effective and very economic marketing tool. They are saved as CI Book (corporate identity book), it may take traditional or digital form. Such book could be upgraded with whole and complex designs or marketing constructions. Electronic version of CI Book is often provided on corporate website on internet in order to allow other branches to use digital samples (business cards, banners, system of press ads). New technologies mark new forms of corporate identity. Often for the best standardization of company's image, beside description of logo CI is expanded with rules for using logo in different technologies. Because of this the Book has to include all the CI elements in modern technology also allowed and disallowed forms of logo usage in given medium. The start of internet existence for company is often the reason for rebranding and revitalizing it's logo, and in many instances modernizing of the main logo. To design the logo and to create visual identification in the internet is to build appropriate internal and external communication strategy for the company. The action should begin with analysis of company's targets and problems. Choice of CI depends on the consumers and company's strategy. Different internet image will fit the company that is moving a part of it's operation online and different for the company working entirely through the internet (virtual company). In the first case we need to base new design on already existing traditional media layouts. The second case however as the company is based mostly in the internet it must look for simple and easily recognizable signs/shapes to stand out from the other companies and allow for easy recognition in the internet.
